CANADIAN BASS ANGLERS FEDERATION

ARTICLE 1 – Name and Objects

Section 1: Name

This organization shall be known as the CANADIAN BASS ANGLERS FEDERATION, INC.

Section 2: Objects

The purpose of the Canadian Bass Anglers Federation is:

  •  To be a Federation of individual member clubs.
  •  To promote organized tournament fishing.
  •  To encourage youth and adult participation in fishing.
  •  To promote conservation.

The corporation shall be carried on without the purpose of gain for its members, and any profits or other accretions to the corporation shall be used in promoting its objects.

ARTICLE 2 – Club Affiliation

Section 1: Requirements

All Club chapters recognized by the CBAF are eligible and will be invited to join the Federation. To affiliate with the CBAF member clubs must meet the following:

  •  Chapters must have a minimum of six (6) members
  •  Members must be 14 years of age or older, members under 16 years of age must provide written consent of a parent or guardian.
  •  CBAF approval of Club Chapter Charter and Bylaws.
  •  Update with a Chapter membership roster once each year, Before November 30, and immediately following election of Chapter Officers and Directors.
  •  Names and addresses of new members joining the Chapter during the year must be submitted to the CBAF membership director as they occur. The necessary forms are available online or from the membership director.
  •  Payment of dues.
  •  Maintain Federation membership.
  •  Support CBAF programs.

A club/chapter may be disaffiliated from the Corporation for any misconduct or behaviour considered detrimental to the CBAF as a whole. The club will receive written notice of intent to vote on disaffiliation and will be disaffiliated upon a vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the clubs present at a duly held meeting of the Board. An appeal to the Board for reconsideration must be presented in writing to the CBAF President within thirty (30) days of notification of disaffiliation.

Section 2: Dues

Chapters are responsible for collecting from its members all applicable FLW, TBF and CBAF fees.

Chapter membership fees to be decided by each club.

CBAF $15 membership fees to be submitted to the CBAF Treasurer by the first joined event.

Chapters must update club memberships and submit invoices using the TBF on-line Roster Management system.

Membership dues will cover the following;

  •  Membership in the CBAF.
  •  Membership in TBF.
  •  Membership in FLW Outdoors.
  •  Eligibility for participation in sanctioned qualifying tournaments of all members in good standing of the CBAF.
  •  Represent the CBAF in a professional manner at all times, exhibiting the highest standards of sportsmanship.
  •  Have the best interest of the CBAF in mind at all times when conducting themselves in public at a CBAF Function.
  •  Show respect to other stakeholders on the water, on the road, at the dock and at CBAF event sites.
  •  Respect all fellow CBAF competitors.
  •  Strive to avoid conflicts with fellow CBAF competitors.
  •  Resolve any conflicts privately and in a professional manner, with arbitration from the CBAF Executive board members, if necessary.
  •  Act positively and participate in CBAF initiatives that are adopted or developed to increase the profile of the Federation and its members.
  •  Refrain from any form of negative behaviour in any public forum including but not limited to on-line forums, meetings, shows and CBAF event sites.
  •  Follow strict adherence to “best practices” with regards to our resources and fish care.
  •  Abide by all specific tournament rules as well as all Federal, Provincial and State fishing regulations at all times.
  •  All charges shall be presented to the Board of Directors in writing. A reasonable investigation concerning the charges shall be conducted by the Board of Directors prior to consideration.
  •  Prior to consideration of such charges against a member/chapter by the Board, an opportunity shall be given to the charged party in question to be present/represented at the meeting of the Board at which such charges against the party are considered. The charged party may submit written consideration in lieu of appearing.
  •  Prior to vote on the charges by the Board the charged party may make such defence against the charges as he desires provided it is lawful and reasonable.
  •  Failure to pay dues.
  •  Any action that would reflect dishonour and disgrace on this chapter and/or the CBAF.
  •  Disqualification for any reason from participating in any tournament events including disqualification for use of drugs or alcohol.
  •  Publicly attack, malign, slander, or beset any member, affiliate or stakeholder of the CBAF.
  •  Presides over all meetings and directs all official business
  •  Appoints members to committees
  •  Supervise all club functions
  •  Represents the CBAF at TBF executive meetings
  •  Assists the President in his/her duties
  •  Presides in the absence of the President
  •  Acts as Program Chair for Youth and Conservation
  •  Directs all tournaments
  •  Maintains financial records of all joined tournaments and CBAF events and
  •  submits proceeds to treasurer.
  •  Maintains the CBAF/TBF master roster
  •  Submits dues invoices to member clubs
  •  Receives all correspondence and files or forwards to the appropriate person/committee
  •  Records minutes at executive meetings and distributes
  •  Collects and disburses all monies
  •  Maintains accurate financial records
  •  Presents a current financial report and bank balance at each regular directors meeting.
  •  Be a member in good standing of a Chapter for at least six (12) months.
  •  Have shown an interest in chapter functions and participated regularly.
  •  If needed the President will call a meeting of the Board of Directors and preside at the meeting.
  •  Minutes will be recorded at all Board of Directors meetings.
  •  The board will decide on all protests and rule on violations of the bylaws and tournament regulations received in writing.
